From Nell Hair
Hi Joy,
If possible, please send this message to WELCA members.
I have reserved spaces for 10 volunteers at the OCC Charlotte NC Processing Center. The date is Friday, December 3rd, the shift is 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. There are still several spaces available. We would stay overnight since the trip up is at least 4 hours, and we work for 6 hours.
Serving at an OCC Processing Center involves inspecting each shoebox, and packing them for shipment. It does involve standing for long periods of time. Eight of us went in 2019 and had a great time (did not go in 2020 due to Covid). Visited the Billy Graham Library that evening which was beautifully decorated for Christmas with outdoor displays and singing groups. Several of the ladies even went for a horse drawn carriage ride.
I have attached information regarding Covid precautions. If interested, please let me know by November 3rd. I will need to send the names and email addresses of volunteers to an OCC coordinator. This will make checking in quick and easy. I will need to release any of the reserved spots if we do not need them. There are many, many requests for volunteer spaces to serve.
Thanks,
Nell

General Processing Center Guidelines
Before you arrive:
Before your service date, everyone in your group should be free of COVID-19 related symptoms
for 14 days and should not have been exposed to anyone that is known positive for COVID-19
during that same time period. If you or someone in your group has symptoms, please do not
come.
We also ask that you and each member of your group check your temperature before traveling to
the processing center.
Please have everyone in your group complete an online volunteer waiver prior to arriving or bring
a hard copy of a completed waiver to the processing center. This will expedite your process upon
arrival and prevent unneeded risks when completing the waivers on-site.
At the Processing Center:
To care well for all who are serving, everyone will be required to wear a face covering while
inside the Processing Center.
Masks and gloves will be available at the entrance of each Processing Center.
Hand sanitizer stations will be placed throughout the facilities.
Designated staff will clean and sanitize the properties frequently.
Our adapted processing procedures will allow volunteers and staff to social distance while
serving.
Volunteer group leaders will receive additional information regarding how to prepare for COVID-
19 modifications prior to arrival.
Procedures may be customized per processing center based on local guidelines and restrictions.
There will be no food vendors inside the Processing Center this year.
There will be a Gear Store on-site this year! Please note that the Gear Store will be credit/debit
card only and unable to accept cash or checks.
Specific Processing Center Guidelines
We will provide updates regarding specific locations at a later date, and in
all cases will follow local guidelines.
